A Needham acupuncturist finds himself on the wrong end of the law, following allegations of indecent assault by a client. The Needham Police Department reported that a client filed an indecent assault and battery complaint against Qunhao Zhang, a practitioner at Boston Acupuncture Center (Chinese) and Herbal Medicine, on Friday at around 12:25 PM. Zhang, a 56-year-old resident of Needham, was arrested later that evening at his home.
The alleged incident took place at the acupuncture center located at 1410 Highland Ave. The investigation prompted by the complaint led to the discovery that, back in the Fall of 2022, Zhang had his acupuncture license revoked by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine. Despite this fact, the man was still practicing, only to be apprehended again on charges of indecent A&B on a person 14 or over.
According to a Facebook post by the Needham Police, the police are now on the hunt for more potential victims. They urge anyone who might have experienced similar misconduct to step forward. Those with information are encouraged to reach out to the Needham Police Department at 781-455-7570.
Details surrounding the incident, remain sparse as the investigation continues but, the police's call to the public suggests a worry that there could be other victims. Zhang, thus far, faces two counts related to indecent assault, and the police's investigation into his activities, and the potential breadth of his misconduct is ongoing. There is nothing further at this time, but the needle has definitely moved in a sobering case that has pierced the community's trust.
