Following a recent vote by the Mayor and Council, a new 64-unit single-family townhome development named "Brookwood Green" is poised to quickly emerge just off Highway 78. The builder, Parkland Communities, Inc., plans to utilize an 8.174-acre site adjacent to the Towne Center Office Park for the project, as reported by Snellville's official website.
The company has agreed to make several concessions to meld more seamlessly into the existing community. Notably, they agreed to relocate a dumpster closer to Fountain Drive and will also include a gate to Crescent Drive in an effort to prevent vehicles from accessing the development's rear. Directory traffic management considerations include provision for an entry road through the Towne Centre Office Park, which boasts a declaration lane directly off of Highway 78, as well as a right-in, right-out access to and from Stone Mountain Highway. An entry on Fountain Drive will also be created by extending a street behind the current O'Reilly Auto Parts store.
Details about the townhomes reveal that each will offer 1,600 square feet of floor area, three bedrooms, and two-and-a-half bathrooms decked with high-end finishes. Moreover, the homes are designed with a two-car rear-entry garage and a driveway capable of accommodating an additional two cars. To enrich the aesthetic and communal atmosphere, each townhouse is designed to front a landscaped courtyard that opens onto a pedestrian pathway.
The new housing developments along Highway 78 are expected to bring more energy to the area. Access has been carefully planned, allowing residents to enter from the signalized intersection at Fountain Drive onto Stone Mountain Highway. Parkland Communities, Inc. aims to integrate the new housing smoothly with the existing town layout.
