New Orleans residents are on alert as police seek assistance in identifying several suspects involved in a string of auto thefts. The New Orleans Police Department released images and details urging the public's help to track down those responsible for stealing a white Infiniti sedan and stripping it for parts in late August.
According to NOPD News, the theft occurred on the 3400 block of Esplanade Avenue on August 31, 2024. The vehicle was later found abandoned, the incident evolving beyond theft to a dismantling operation at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Downman Road. On September 1, the suspects, including a bearded male in a light-colored t-shirt, were sighted stripping the Infiniti, at the aforementioned location.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives from the Third District are leading the charge. In efforts to cast a wider net, NOPD has shared surveillance footage and images of the individuals believed to be involved. The suspects arrived in separate vehicles, which were also caught on tape, as they executed the theft and dismantling of the stolen sedan.
NOPD is appealing to anyone with information to step forward. They believe public input could be crucial in apprehending the culprits. "Anyone with information about the crime or the identities of any of the pictured suspects is asked to call Third District detectives at 504-658-6030 or to anonymously call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111," the police department stated.
