El Cajon is set to welcome a new culinary hotspot as Will Remsbottom, a local entrepreneur with successful ventures such as Scrimshaw Coffee and Majorette, gears up to introduce Somewhere Pizza to the neighborhood. In a statement detailed by San Diego Magazine, Remsbottom shared his vision for the restaurant, emphasizing a community-centric approach with a classic vibe. "Think checkered floors, comfy booths, and an aesthetic that is either brand new nor has been there for decades," he detailed, differentiating the upcoming establishment from the typical San Diego 'scene'.
According to a San Diego Magazine report, Somewhere Pizza will serve Brooklyn-style pizzas and flaunt an in-house bakery consulted by Sienna Walters of Companion Bread alongside Scrimshaw chef Jeannette Silva. Remsbottom intends to fill what he perceives as an unnoticed gap in the local dining market.
The opening of Somewhere Pizza next to Scrimshaw Coffee seems to be a strategic expansion of Remsbottom's gastronomic footprint. Patrons can anticipate indulging in more than just pizzas, with Italian sandwiches for lunch, small seasonal plates, a handpicked selection of natural wines, and housemade sodas, among other offerings planned for the menu. Pizza's targeted opening in December creates buzz among locals, especially after Remsbottom announced the news on Scrimshaw Coffee's Facebook page.
Remsbottom seeks community support to actualize Somewhere Pizza's inception, inviting financial contributions for the new venture. The crowdfunding initiative boasts a unique return on investment: backers receive 120% of their contributions as future dining credit at the establishment. A boon for the business and its prospective customers, the campaign promises early dinner invitations to supporters and an opportunity to be a fundamental part of the venue's story.
With the promise of an ambiance reminiscing a timeless appeal, Somewhere Pizza aspires to be the antithesis of the area's increasingly 'clubby' dining establishments. Remsbottom stated, as per San Diego Magazine, "It won’t be pretentious or clubby," assuring a focus on genuine hospitality. Local connoisseurs eagerly awaiting the launch can follow the progress on Instagram under the handle @somewherepizza_sd and participate in the crowdfunding campaign to become part of the exciting journey towards opening Somewhere Pizza's doors.
