Heads up, Mesquite residents and visitors: If you plan to use F. P. Lucas Blvd. for your nightly travels soon, you might need to reroute temporarily. The City of Mesquite has announced that the stretch of road between McKenzie Road and E. Cartwright Road will be closed to through traffic from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on September 17 and 18. This closure is necessitated to safely set bridge beams as part of the ongoing construction efforts in the area.
Daytime activities aren't going to be affected—F. P. Lucas Blvd. will be open during the day, so daily commutes should proceed without major interruptions. During the night hours, travelers will need to adjust their plans quickly. Local traffic and emergency service vehicles will still be able to pass through, ensuring property access isn't compromised during these times. According to the city's statement, "The road will be fully opened during the day."
Please watch for detour signs, follow traffic staff directions, be patient during the roadwork, and check the City of Mesquite’s website for updates.
