
Tragedy struck in Jefferson County over the weekend when a car accident resulted in loss of life and injury. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office confirmed that deputies arrived at the scene in the 2100 block of Flat Gap Road after a 2019 Nissan Sentra, driven by a juvenile, veered off the road and collided with a tree. The incident occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, as reported by WVLT.
At the time of the crash, the only passengers inside the vehicle were the driver and 45-year-old Amber Trail, of Jefferson City, who was seated in the vehicle's back seat. According to the information by WATE, Trail was announced dead at the scene, thrown into a reality no one is ever truly prepared for, even as the young driver was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, being listed in stable condition post-accident.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has an active and ongoing investigation into the accident. In a statement obtained by WBIR, the office reported that not only has the Criminal Investigation Division been mobilized, but deputies and investigators are together unwinding the strands of cause and sequence that culminated in this tragic event.
