A violent confrontation outside a Meijer store in Detroit resulted in a shooting yesterday morning, leaving one person injured and prompting the arrest of the suspected shooter. FOX 2 Detroit reported the incident occurred around 11 a.m., following an altercation between two individuals at the Eight Mile and Woodward location.
Detroit Police Capt. Donna McCord stated that one person, a man in his 50s, was shot during the fight but suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to recover. Meanwhile, the shooter, a man in his 30s, was taken into custody. "Our victim was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to recover," McCord said, as per FOX 2 Detroit. In the aftermath of the shooting, the store was on lockdown for approximately three hours.
The large police presence in the area was a precautionary measure to ensure public safety. "We locked down the area just to ensure that no one else was in harms way," Capt. McCord informed, according to FOX 2 Detroit. Despite the quick apprehension of the suspect, Detroit police have not yet disclosed what sparked the altercation that escalated to gunfire.
