Boone High School in Orlando became the recent site of a disturbing discovery, as two of its students were taken into custody following the revelation of a loaded gun on campus grounds. Orlando Police assert that they were tipped off about the possibility that a female student had a handgun, as reported by WFTV.

Upon swift intervention by the school's resource officers, a 17-year-old female student—a sophomore—was found with a 9mm handgun, heavily loaded in her backpack. Reported by ClickOrlando, which detailed the events of the morning, indicated that upon further questioning, authorities learned the firearm was bestowed upon her by her boyfriend, 19-year-old Lovensky Cesalien, a 12th grader at the same school. The plot unveiled was to carry the weapon for a time before returning it to him.

Both students now face charges that are grave and reflective of the times—possession of a firearm on a school campus. Cesalien faces an additional accusation that signifies a breach of duty owed to the young, contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The male student's involvement surfaced through determined police work. As cited by WFTV, the police determined "the female was given the gun to carry with her today by her boyfriend, a 19-year-old, 12th-grade student at the school with plans to later retrieve the firearm."
