
The City of Phoenix prepares to bid a solemn farewell to a fallen hero, Police Officer Zane Coolidge, whose life was tragically cut short in the line of duty, with services scheduled for tomorrow, September 18. The ceremony, which is to take place at Dream City Church, will be closed to public attendance. However, streaming options will be available for those who wish to watch and honor Officer Coolidge's service and sacrifice, according to ABC15.
Officer Coolidge, a five-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department, met his untimely death after an incident on September 3, which also injured his partner, Officer Matthew Haney, and since the shooting, Haney has fortunately been released from the hospital and is currently on the road to recovery Officer Coolidge leaves behind a legacy of service, surviving family members include his wife and their 5-month-old baby, depicting the profound loss felt by both family and community members alike. The suspect involved in the fatal shooting, Saul Bal, faces charges including first-degree murder, as reported by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
Details regarding the funeral were shared by the Phoenix Police Department, expressing the stature of Officer Coolidge within the force and community, noting, "We remember Zane as an amazing husband, father, son, brother, friend, and beloved member of the Phoenix Police Department," a sentiment captured in a statement released by the department and echoed by 12news. Members of the public, despite not being able to enter the church, are encouraged to display their respects along the procession route.
The streets of Phoenix will witness the somber procession consisting of motor officers, family, friends and Officer Coolidge’s Squad from the Mountain View Precinct, starting its march from 60th Street and Bell Road leading up to the church at 13613 North Cave Creek Road as part of the final journey for Officer Coolidge, with the traditional customs, and courtesies including the last call, to be given to fallen Officer Zane Coolidge in the front courtyard of the church it is a moment for the city to come together in grief and remembrance for a man who devoted and ultimately gave his life in service to others.
