Pima County to Enhance Road Safety with New Pavement Markings in South TucsonSource: Famartin, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Heads up, drivers! Starting next Monday, a fresh coat of safety is being painted on some of South Tucson's busiest intersections. The Pima County Department of Transportation is setting out to renew pavement markings at four key crossroads, according to a recent post on the department's website. For those of you planning your late-night or early-morning commutes on Valencia and Mission Roads next week, take note: your routes might get a little bit sticky with wet paint.

From September 16 to September 19, the county crews will be out and about between midnight and the break of dawn, doing their part to keep the roads marked and safe. Specifically, line refreshing will occur at Valencia Road at Mission Road, Valencia Road at Cardinal Avenue, Valencia Road at Camino de la Tierra, and Mission Road at Drexel Road, Pima County's notice details. Motorists are urged to watch out for the crews on the ground – and the paint beneath their tires.

It's the kinda inconvenience that comes with a silver lining, though. These maintenance runs mean clearer lanes and hopefully, fewer fender benders. But the county does warn of "minor delays and intermittent lane closures while work is being performed," as stated by Pima County.

For updates or if languages other than English are your groove, the county has provided contacts: dial 520-724-6410 for any info you need, and for those who prefer Spanish, Melissa Cancio at the same number is who you’re looking for.
