Tragedy struck Interstate 580 near Livermore last Saturday evening when a 24-year-old woman from Pleasant Hill was killed in a hit-and-run incident. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported receiving calls around 8:20 PM about a pedestrian in the eastbound traffic lanes just west of First Street. According to a Facebook post by the Dublin CHP office, the woman had exited a moving vehicle under suspicious conditions, resulting in her falling onto the roadway.
The vehicle in question, a black 2018 Audi, apparently allowed the woman to hastily exit while in motion before continuing. After the incident, the driver took the time to pull over but left the scene immediately. This refusal to remain came before reporting the incident upon arrival in Tracy. The CHP later announced that the driver was arrested on felony hit-and-run charges. Reports indicate that after the woman ended up on the road, several vehicles consequentially hit her, leading to fatal injuries.
To thoroughly investigate this incident, the CHP is now actively seeking the community's aid and asking for additional witnesses to come forward. The agency is particularly interested in speaking with anyone who might have observed the crash or who may have information about the vehicles that struck the woman after she was already lying in the roadway.
Community members with relevant information are strongly encouraged to contact the CHP. Connecting with the Dublin office can be done by calling (925) 828-0466.
