In a recent drug-related crackdown in Port Huron, a 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged with numerous offenses. St. Clair County Drug Task Force members carried out a search warrant on September 10, and Corey Sheffer is currently facing charges for possessing and intending to deliver an array of narcotics, including crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, analogues, and more, The Voice reported.
The task force discovered a substantial amount of drugs in the 1500 block of Kearney Street residence, seizing 183 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 25 grams of cocaine, crack cocaine, nearly 100 analogue pills, 7 grams of Psilocybin hallucinogens, Suboxone strips, and materials related to packaging and selling drugs, ClickOnDetroit reported; Sheffer's bond was subsequently set at $50,000 after an arraignment on Friday.
WXYZ interviewed Sheriff Mat King, who highlighted the severity of the narcotics uncovered, estimated to have a street value in the tens of thousands of dollars, and expressed concern about these drugs potentially reaching children, "They don’t care. So whoever has the money and is willing to buy that drug, they’re going to sell it to them one way or another," King said.
Doug McRoberts, a father who’s lived near the bust location for over four decades, expressed his anguish and disappointment at the encroaching drug culture, "It’s always been an issue with the drug culture. Right down the street, we have a park where there's young kids within two or three blocks from this neighborhood,” he told WXYZ in the interview. Sheffer has posted bond and is currently out awaiting his next court appointment.
