Portland residents can look forward to a gradual shift in weather today, as the overcast morning is set to give way to clearer skies by the afternoon. The National Weather Service in Portland reports that, following the cloud coverage early on, there's a rise in temperature to an agreeable 72 degrees with winds holding steady at a light north-northwest breeze of around 6 mph.
The trend towards clearer days will take a brief hiatus tonight with the onset of patchy fog expected between 2 am and 4 am. The otherwise increasing clouds are going to slowly dissipate leading into a cool low around 53 degrees, with those north-northwest winds calming down by evening time. Forecasters are predicting this pattern to temporarily hold as we move into Friday morning with fog expected to lift gradually after 7 am to show another partly sunny day.
NWS predicts the foggy conditions to recur sporadically through the weekend and into early next week, particularly during the early hours. Nevertheless, Portlanders will likely enjoy predominantly sunny skies and rising temperatures, which are anticipated to reach a high of 74 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday, accompanied by mild winds.
Starting the new week on Monday, patches of fog are set to again make a brief appearance in the morning, forecasted to be a mostly sunny day peaking at 77 degrees. The nighttime will mainly stay clear, and the warmth is expected to persist into Tuesday, pushing the mercury up to reach a high near 86. By Wednesday, there's a slight chance of showers amidst the otherwise sunny day, topping off near 78.
