Last Saturday morning, the California Highway Patrol in Redwood City took a wrong-way driver into custody after a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 280. According to a CHP Redwood City, the incident began when dispatchers received reports of a silver Honda sedan traveling northbound in the southbound lanes near Edgewood Road at approximately 2:16 a.m.
The CHP initiated an attempt to stop the vehicle close to Millbrae Avenue. Still, the driver was reportedly moving at a significant speed, thus creating a dangerous situation for everyone involved. Eventually, the officers detained the driver south of Hickey Boulevard on the southbound side of I-280.
The arrest was for suspected driving under the influence of alcohol, adding one more to the statistics of DUI incidents that pose an ever-present threat on our highways.
