Richmond police officers have successfully detained five individuals and seized an array of illegal items, including firearms and drugs, following a proactive patrol in a local neighborhood. On Wednesday evening, authorities noticed a vehicle obstructing a sidewalk at the intersection of Kelsey Ave. and Duboce Ave. This initial observation spiraled into an investigation that led to the recovery of two loaded handguns, one of which had been reported stolen, as recounted in the Richmond Police Department's official Facebook page.

When officers approached, the vehicle's occupants tried to walk away from the scene casually but were quickly detained. This encounter gave the officers probable cause to thoroughly search the vehicle, a decision that unearthed the cache of weapons. Notably, two of the five individuals arrested were on parole. The day following the arrests, officers furthered their investigation by serving a search warrant at a nearby residence. They were assisted by K-9 Mako, a dog with a knack for reliably detecting firearms and ammunition. Their search was fruitful, revealing more contraband, including a loaded handgun, heroin, ecstasy, cocaine, and marijuana, with an estimated street value comfortably surpassing $40,000.

This series of events underscored the diligent efforts of Richmond's swing shift patrol officers. Three trainees of the credited team were Character, Bruzonne, and Wally. These rookies were commended for their exceptional teamwork, showcased under the tutelage of their experienced counterparts.
