A dispute over laundry has led to a fatal shooting in Rockdale County, resulting in the arrest of a 24-year-old man. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, deputies arrived at a residence on the 3000 block of Barcelona Way on Wednesday night after receiving reports of a shooting and found a 23-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was later transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Deshaun Khalil Elder, the suspect in the case, was found at the scene and detained by authorities. Following an altercation that took place approximately one hour prior to the shooting incident, it appears that a verbal fight had escalated over an issue as seemingly mundane as laundry. The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office has since charged Elder with felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and aggravated assault as they continue their investigation into the events that unfolded.
The identity of the deceased has not been released. As reported by WSBTV, Elder has also been charged with an attempt to commit certain felonies on top of the other charges. The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office confirms that Elder was taken into custody without incident, which stood in stark contrast to the violent confrontation that led to the victim's death.
