
Violence erupted in San Diego's East Village last night, resulting in the death of a 53-year-old Black man. According to the City of San Diego's official website, the incident occurred around 7:39 p.m. near 14th Street and Imperial Avenue. Police officers, who were nearby, rushed to the scene after hearing what they believed to be gunshots.
Upon arrival, they discovered the victim on the sidewalk with multiple injuries from both a firearm and a stabbing weapon. Despite being swiftly transported to a local hospital, the man succumbed to his wounds, and his identity has yet to be disclosed by the authorities. The preliminary investigation suggests an altercation among a group of individuals led to the fatal assault. San Diego Police Homicide Detectives are currently investigating the homicide, with the assailants being described as Black or Hispanic males wearing dark clothing.
