The San Diego Police Department is actively seeking information regarding a spate of hate crimes that have recently unsettled the Hillcrest community. A series of attacks have occurred, involving assailants shooting gel-type pellets at individuals from a vehicle. According to the City of San Diego, these incidents are being investigated under the hate crimes designation.
Four separate incidents have been documented over the last week, with the most recent occurring early Sunday morning around 2 a.m. near the intersection of 10th Ave. and University Ave. The aggressors were seen operating a light-colored minivan. Victims described the subjects as white males. While there have been at least four victims, thankfully, none sustained serious injuries.
In response to these episodes of targeted violence, the San Diego Police Department is urging the public to be vigilant. They encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to come forward and say something.
