San Leandro's methodical police work led to the swift arrest of a robbery suspect, credited to the strategic use of modern surveillance technology. On Monday afternoon, a Rite Aid on MacArthur Boulevard became the scene of an armed robbery when Kyimiereyae Jones, a 23-year-old from Oakland, brandished a hidden gun to demand cash from an employee during what began as a routine transaction.

According to the San Leandro Police Department, the quick deployment of Flock public safety cameras helped detectives pinpoint Jones' vehicle post-haste, resulting in his arrest merely an hour after the crime.

Further investigation following the apprehension at the 8400 block of Edgewater Drive in Oakland led to the recovery of a stolen handgun and some of the stolen money directly from Jones. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Jones with robbery and gun-related violations yesterday.
