Last night, a brazen theft incident at Target in the Bridgepointe Shopping Center resulted in the arrest of 35-year-old Kristen Martin-Boileau of San Mateo. Following an alert from a Target employee around 11:16 p.m., San Mateo Police arrived to find the suspect with two carts overflowing with unpaid merchandise.
Upon attempting to detain Martin-Boileau, the situation escalated rapidly, including a physical altercation during which an officer was kicked. A statement from the San Mateo Police Department detailed that, despite the aggression, officers managed to secure and arrest Martin-Boileau without further incident. The merchandise she attempted to steal, valued at approximately $2,903, was recovered and returned to the store.
Martin-Boileau now faces significant charges, including second-degree burglary and felony resisting a police officer. After the altercation was diffused and Martin-Boileau detained, she was subsequently booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
