The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office confirmed the recovery of a second body from the Salt River on Saturday, following a distressing incident that took place earlier in the week. The body of 25-year-old Abdul Mosawar Khaliqi was found around noon, submerged in eight feet of water, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. This tragic discovery comes just days after deputies and a pair of good Samaritans attempted to save another individual, identified as 27-year-old Mohammad Selaman Nasri.

On Wednesday around 5:30 p.m, deputies responded to an emergency at Sheep’s Crossing Recreation Site, where, according to a Arizona's Family report, multiple people became distressed in the water. Having responded to the Sheep’s Crossing Recreation Site, deputies arrived to find that two good Samaritans performing CPR on a man along the shoreline, only about 300 yards upstream from Blue Rock Beach.

The first victim, Nasri, was found on Wednesday, where resuscitation efforts were underway by citizen rescuers and later by deputies along the river’s bank. Despite these efforts, Nasri was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff's office continued their search for Khaliqi, utilizing resources such as drones and aviation units but initially found nothing.

The search for Khaliqi concluded on Saturday with the discovery of his body, in water rivaling the depth of a modest suburban swimming pool. Preliminary reports did not detail the circumstances that led to the swimmers' distress, but previous incidents in the vicinity, like the stranding of a group of tubers on an island due to strong rapids back in June, as noted by FOX 10 Phoenix.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the incident, with details still forthcoming.
