Seven arrests have been made in Washington County, Georgia, following a drug bust led by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). The operation was a combined effort involving the Middle Georgia Gang Task Force (MGGTF), the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), and several other state and local agencies. The investigation was directed toward disrupting drug sales and gang activities within Central Georgia.

Charges among the arrested individuals vary, with the allegations including possession and intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana. Among those detained is 64-year-old Robert Johnson from Sandersville, who is facing three counts of sale of cocaine along with possession, according to a press release from the GBI. Working diligently, law enforcement also seized around 50 grams of crack cocaine, 14 grams of powder cocaine and 28 grams of marijuana during the investigation.

The investigations, which spanned over four months, concluded on August 23, 2024, when four individuals were taken into custody, followed by more arrests stemming from additional warrants. In a concerted effort to combat the flow of illegal substances, the operation also resulted in the confiscation of a rifle.

The collaborative agencies aim to eliminate the persistent problems caused by drugs and related gang activity that threaten community safety, as stated by the GBI. They encourage public involvement and urge anyone with information about drug or gang activity to contact the GBI-MGGTF or submit tips online through the GBI website or the See Something, Send Something mobile app.
