As Tropical Storm Francine edges closer, the City of Slidell takes precautionary measures, announcing the establishment of a self-service sandbag depot to help residents protect their property. The depot will open at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, in the parking lot on the corner of Bayou Lane and Pennsylvania Avenue near Heritage Park, according to City of Slidell.
For those living in the vicinity of Slidell, additional self-service sandbag locations have been set up by St. Tammany Parish Government at the following places; the Airport Road Public Works Barn and the Fritchie Public Works Barn in Pearl River. Mayor Cromer, aiming to reassure local inhabitants declared, “I want to assure our citizens that Team Slidell is ready for Francine,” as per a City of Slidell announcement.
Beyond sandbag pickup, residents are being encouraged to inspect and clear their storm drains near their homes.
