A South Boston woman was arraigned after allegedly hitting another woman with her car in the South Bay Mall parking lot on Wednesday night and then fleeing the scene, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden has announced.

According to a report, 31-year-old Amina Wilcox has been charged with assault, and battery with a dangerous weapon (car) and leaving the scene of personal injury. A Boston Municipal Court Judge released Wilcox on personal recognizance and ordered her to stay away from the victim along with being fitted with a GPS tracking device.

The incident occurred around 11:07 p.m. on September 4, when Boston police responded to a reported assault and battery. Officers found a 33-year-old woman suffering from various cuts and scrapes, and blood coming from her mouth, alert in the backseat of a Mercedes-Benz.

Witnesses have described seeing a gray sedan, hitting and running over the victim, as one witness recounted seeing Wilcox physically fighting with the victim before the vehicular assault. Wilcox, who was identified as the registered owner of a gray 2010 Toyota Camry with damage consistent with the incident, was later found at her residence and taken into custody. She claimed her minor children were present during the event and acted as her "witnesses."

"This victim has gone through a terrible ordeal and I wish her a full and speedy recovery," Hayden stated in regard to the victim who sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The district attorney's office emphasized the importance of public information in investigations of this nature, noting the helpful details provided by the victim and witnesses at the scene.
