Sumner House Party Shooting Claims One Adult Life, Two Teenagers Detained and ChargedSource: Google Street View

Early yesterday morning, a house party in Sumner tragically ended in gunfire. Deputies responded to a shooting call at a home on Riverside Drive, where they discovered an adult victim with severe injuries and two 16-year-old males with gunshot wounds, as reported by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department blotter.

According to the authorities, a dark Honda was seen fleeing the scene only to ram into a Bonney Lake police vehicle. After that incident, the officers managed to detain the occupants, two teenage males. They found a handgun on the floor. The driver is now facing charges that include Assault in the 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, while his passenger is also booked for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

The scene unfolded as emergency responders applied a chest seal to the adult victim before being rushed to the hospital. Despite these efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries and was declared deceased later that morning. Homicide detectives have since been called in to lead the ongoing investigation.

During the investigation, it was uncovered that the house party was hosted by the homeowner's daughter, who had intentionally disabled security by unplugging and covering cameras. Tensions escalated at the event, leading to an expelled guest returning. After that, a garage door was opened, and someone began shooting, a sequence of events that left a community in shock and two youths apprehended amidst fatal circumstances.

The Sheriff's Department is urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact them directly or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
