The city of Surprise, Arizona, is gearing up for a grand slew of tennis matches as it sets the stage for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) League National Championships. The Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex, known for its status as a premier tennis facility, is all set to host approximately 3,000 tenacious players in a series of tournaments that serve up both skill and excitement starting from tomorrow, September 13.

In the opening serve, the USTA Southwest 55 & Over Section Championship will see players aged 55 and above from Arizona, New Mexico, and western Texas competing from September 13 - 15. "ams of players 55 & up from across the Southwest region (Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas) will be in Surprise vying for the title in skill levels ranging from 3.0 to 4.5," according to an announcement on the Surprise city website. Winners here will net themselves an automatic bid to the championships later in the fall, shouldering the mantle of the USTA Southwest Section.

As the nation's largest adult competitive tennis league, the USTA League National Championships comprises winners from each of 17 sectional championships across the United States. Tennis enthusiasts can witness the upcoming slugfests at the Surprise complex, with schedules for Adult 18 & Over 4.0-Men and Women set from October 18 - 20, then following up with Adult 40 & Over 4.5-Men and Women from October 25 - 27, and a Mixed Doubles 18 & Over-6.0 / 8.0 / 10.0 category from November 1 - 3. The championships will draw to a close with the Adult 18 & Over 4.5-Men and Women matches scheduled for November 8 - 10.

Located at 14469 W. Paradise Ln., the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex boasts 25 courts and has played host to a veritable volley of events, including USTA Pro Circuit events, League National and Junior Team Tennis National Championships, and several NCAA championship events since 2007. Admission to the championships remains as free as a perfectly executed backhand slice, making it an accessible outing for families and fans alike.
