In the opening serve, the USTA Southwest 55 & Over Section Championship will see players aged 55 and above from Arizona, New Mexico, and western Texas competing from September 13 - 15. "ams of players 55 & up from across the Southwest region (Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas) will be in Surprise vying for the title in skill levels ranging from 3.0 to 4.5," according to an announcement on the Surprise city website. Winners here will net themselves an automatic bid to the championships later in the fall, shouldering the mantle of the USTA Southwest Section.
As the nation's largest adult competitive tennis league, the USTA League National Championships comprises winners from each of 17 sectional championships across the United States. The championships will draw to a close with the Adult 18 & Over 4.5-Men and Women matches scheduled for November 8 - 10.
