Suspect Apprehended and Charged in Brentwood Coffee Shop AssaultSource: Google Street View

Last Thursday, an individual outside Peet's Coffee was unexpectedly assaulted. The victim soon found himself bleeding from an unanticipated wound following what first appeared to be a mere punch.

According to the City of Brentwood Police Department, officers responded to the scene around noon. They managed to apprehend 33-year-old Melody Boyd of Antioch shortly after that, who authorities believed to be the assailant.

The victim received necessary medical attention at a nearby hospital and was treated for injuries consistent with an attack by a sharp-edged instrument.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office levied formal charges against Boyd within a week of the incident. Boyd now faces assault with a deadly weapon, a charge compounded by bail enhancements reflecting the severity of the crime.
