A man has been taken into custody in connection with a hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Dormont last Saturday night. The collision occurred near Pioneer and West Liberty avenues, where authorities say Saul Rivera-Ramirez, 25, was behind the wheel of a red Ford Taurus that struck the victim, identified as Christian Sluka, 23, as reported by WPXI.
Rivera-Ramirez is alleged to have fled on foot after the crash. Police quickly apprehended Rivera-Ramirez, who now faces a series of charges. These charges include homicide by vehicle and driving without a valid license. Following the tragic event, Rivera-Ramirez was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. In a subsequent arraignment that took place on Sunday, bail was denied. The accused is scheduled for a preliminary hearing set for October 4, as detailed by TribLIVE.
While justice seemingly begins to to slowly move through its mechanisms, Allegheny County Police are continuing their investigation and are appealing to the public for any additional information. Individuals with knowledge of the incident are encouraged to come forward and provide details anonymously via the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
