The San José Police Department (SJPD) has arrested a juvenile male following a reported sexual assault in the 4000 block of Evergreen Village Square. On September 12, patrol officers were called to the scene after an unknown male allegedly assaulted a minor female, according to the San José Police Department news release. Officials detailed that the suspect approached the girl while she was sitting outside, attempted to engage her in conversation, and upon her standing, grabbed her by the waist and sexually assaulted her.
The Sexual Assault Investigations Unit (SAIU) promptly began to investigate the incident thoroughly and quickly identified the suspect, who was also a minor. Within a day following the incident, detectives managed to locate and arrest the suspect on September 13, booking him into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on a felony charge.
SJPD has asked the public to provide any information related to this case or similar cases. Additionally, community members can submit tips anonymously through the P3TIPS mobile app, call the tip line, or visit the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers website. The police department has highlighted that anyone whose information leads to an arrest may receive a cash reward from the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers Program.
