The City of Suwanee has snagged the 2024 Savvy Award for its "The Office"-themed 2022 Annual Report, a distinctive nod from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA). The award, which recognizes standout communication efforts by local governments, was handed out during a ceremony on September 5, 2024, at the Loews Arlington Hotel.
Against a backdrop of steep competition, with over 1,100 entries spanning 38 categories, Suwanee’s annual report stood out. "Even if you’re not an avid fan of The Office, this report was a gem! Fun idea, excellent graphics, and a clever way to take something not everyone loves to read and make it enjoyable," praised a 3CMA judge, according to a city statement. Suwanee’s approach to municipal communication was lauded for its innovation and engaging nature, showcasing the creative effort put into transforming dry data into a compelling narrative.
Other municipalities also received honors in this category, with the Town of Vail, CO, earning the Silver Circle Award and the Town of Frederick, CO, receiving the Award of Excellence. However, it is Suwanee that added a third Savvy Award to their collection, demonstrating consistent excellence in effective communication with their community.
The "The Office"-themed report integrated witty references and engaging graphics, complemented by videos that made the complex municipal information accessible—and even enjoyable—to the local residents. This inventive blend clearly resonated with both the city's residents and the industry judges. Details about the win and the annual report itself can be explored by visiting the city's official website.
The Savvy Awards, facilitated by 3CMA, are designed to highlight and encourage the innovative work of those in city, county, and district communications. Suwanee's latest accolade underscores their commitment to not only maintain transparency with their constituents but to do so in a way that bridges connective gaps with humor and relatability.
