Chaos erupted on the streets of Oakley late Tuesday night when a teenage driver attempting to evade police caused a violent car crash, leaving several injured. According to the Oakley Police Department, the incident commenced after officers responded to reports of reckless driving near Carpenter Road and Brown Road.
An Oakley officer witnessed the driver of a silver Infiniti performing dangerous stunts at the intersection of Carpenter Road and Rose Avenue. When the driver, identified only as a 16-year-old male, initiated a high-speed chase by ignoring the officer's emergency signals, the vehicle tore through the city streets. It ultimately barrelled through a red light at Main Street and Laurel Road, where it crashed into a Honda containing three people. Both vehicles were significantly damaged in the collision.
The three occupants of the Honda, two men, and one woman, faced various injuries, with the female being pinned inside the car and having to be extricated by the Consolidated Fire Department. She was subsequently hospitalized for a leg injury while the male passengers received onsite treatment from an AMR ambulance crew.
