After summer renovations caused by a fire, Adventurous Stills, a distillery in Tempe, has reopened its doors. The reemergence of the establishment over the Labor Day weekend was highlighted by the premiere of new spirit creations and signified the return of a local favorite in the Arizona craft distillery scene.
While the fire had its origins in a electric bug zapper, the resilience of Adventurous Stills is evident, with only "about a dozen bottles of spirits" lost and the majority of the cleanup addressing water damage, owner Kelly Lattig noted, in an interview obtained by Phoenix New Times. The Tasting room's layout remains largely unaltered, with the exception of a newly installed black drop ceiling.
Aside from offering an inviting space for spirit enthusiasts, Adventurous Stills also prides itself on its grain-to-bottle practice, diligently sourcing Arizona-grown ingredients for its carefully crafted beverages. Showcasing products that such as Peralta Bourbon, Lost Dutchman Rye Whiskey, and the notable North Rim American Single Malt Whiskey—complete with a rye cask finish and essence of caramel, green apple, and baking spices—this distillery embeds local character into every bottle.
Moreover, patrons can anticipate specialty releases, with Adventurous Stills unwavering in its commitment to diversity in its spirit portfolio, which includes Mesquited Agave, Hell City Smoky Inferno, and a unique sorghum whiskey, as reported by Axios Phoenix. The distillery, operational since 2015, continues to tap into the adventurous streak it was named after, remaining at the forefront of innovative distillation in the region.
A grand reopening party is set for the weekend of October 4, an event representing a celebration of local craft, resilience, and the unique flavors that Arizona's terroir has to offer, according to Lattig's vision of a business that makes "things unique, adventurous, local and crafty." Adventurous Stills is located in an industrial plaza in east Tempe, ready to kick off new memories with its 45-minute tours and a cocktail menu promising a dozen artisan drinks.
