In the pre-dawn hush of a Chicago neighborhood, a group of thieves conducted a smash-and-grab burglary, targeting a specific prize: an ATM. As reported by FOX 32 Chicago, the incident occurred in the Brighton Park neighborhood, where a band of what appeared to be five individuals descended upon a local business, forcefully intruding to extract the cash machine.
These events unfolded at approximately 2:50 a.m., when the culprits, driving a white truck, shattered the front glass door of a business situated on the 4500 block of South Archer Avenue, shortly thereafter the thieves, who had their sights set on the ATM, facilitated its removal and absconded in a white SUV, leaving the storefront silent but for the echoes of fractured glass and lost security. Notably, the establishment was reportedly devoid of persons during the time of the crime, as noted by police.
Concurrently, a Chicago Tribune report provided a similar account, adding that Chicago police officers, responding to an alert of a burglary, came upon the scene in real time as the raid was in progress. The officers caught sight of the burglary as the five individuals carted off the ATM and fled, signaling that law enforcement was merely a whisper away from the transient shadows of the thieves.
