A two-year-old boy has tragically lost his life after being discovered unconscious in a swimming pool at a Phoenix home on Monday. The incident was first reported by FOX 10 Phoenix, which detailed the event occurring around 4:45 P.M. at a residence near 16th Street and Roeser Road.
Responding crews found a two-year-old male who was pulled from a backyard pool, unconscious and not breathing. The boy was transported to the hospital where, despite the urgent medical attention, deceased shortly after arrival. ABC15 reports the sequence of this devastating incident remains unclear, particularly how long the child had been in the water before he was found.
Witnesses initiated CPR before rescue crews took over, confirmed Phoenix Fire Capt. Todd Keller, who also mentioned the presence of a fence around the pool.
The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the incident is active and in the hands of the Phoenix Police Department. While further details on the case were not immediately available, Capt. Keller indicated that a community assistance program is helping the family during this incredibly trying time, as told to FOX 10 Phoenix.
