A house fire on Stoney Oaks Court in Rancho Cordova led to the death of a dog and left another missing on yesterday evening, as reported by KCRA. Firefighters responded to the blaze which broke out around 7:30 p.m., where they found the fire to be well-seated, with the flames quickly spreading to the attic area.

Despite the efforts of the Sacramento Metro Fire District, arriving on the scene to battle the rapidly spreading fire, one dog could not be saved, and found dead after the house fire was extinguished. According to ABC10, the residence was empty of people at the time of the fire, but firefighters are still searching for one missing person.

No residents were reported to be in the home when the fire initiated, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Sac Metro Fire crews, who successfully knocked down the fire before it could cause structural compromise to the home, faced their fourth working structure fire of the day according to officials.
