The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has issued an update on the ongoing Interstate 15 South Widening Project, detailing ramp closures and lane restrictions affecting drivers on I-15. These changed traffic patterns are a necessary inconvenience for paving, barrier work, and sound wall installation efforts that are part of the project’s scope. As reported by NDOT, these are the most recent changes drivers should prepare for.

Set to commence at night, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., starting Tuesday, September 10 to Monday, September 16, I-15’s southbound traffic will be confined to a single lane between St. Rose Parkway and Sloan Road. The same restriction applies to northbound lanes in the reverse direction. It should be noted, however, that these restrictions will not be in effect on Friday or Saturday evenings, giving travelers a brief respite.

For motorists accustomed to the off-ramp at Starr Avenue, closures will continue daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through Friday, September 20. The on-ramp from Starr Avenue to southbound I-15 will also see closures, specifically during the morning hours of Tuesday, September 10, and Wednesday, September 11, keeping it shut from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Subsequently, the St. Rose Parkway southbound on-ramp will be out of service from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on those same dates, though NDOT assures that it, "WILL NOT be closed at the same time the Starr Avenue southbound on-ramp is closed."

Additionally, from Thursday, September 12 to Friday, September 20, the St. Rose Parkway on-ramp to southbound I-15 will close daily, but drivers may note it remains open on weekends. Widening nearly nine miles of I-15 between Sloan Rd and Warm Springs Rd, this $86 million endeavor is expected to bring significant improvements to the often-congested freeway. As these changes unfold, the NDOT urges the driving public to navigate cautiously through work zones and consider alternative routes whenever feasible. This work schedule is susceptible to shifts based on weather conditions or unforeseen setbacks, so staying informed is critical.
