The San José Police Department made significant progress in their ongoing investigation into a shootout that occurred at an unsanctioned car show, resulting in the arrest of two suspects. The event, which took place on July 20 near Monterey Road and Southside Drive, culminated in gunfire that left two men wounded – one with life-threatening injuries.
According to the San José Police Department, the episode unfolded when a fight erupted between two groups. Amidst the violence, Damian Flores, a 26-year-old Union City resident, emerged wielding a firearm. Spraying bullets into the sky initially, Flores then turned his wrath upon the gathering, shooting one of the male victims. Nicholas Perez, a 27-year-old from Fremont, was subsequently arrested as an accessory to the crime committed by Flores.
After a meticulous investigation by the SJPD Assaults Unit Detectives, Flores and Perez were identified as primary and secondary suspects, and investigative leads empowered law enforcement to obtain arrest warrants. On August 28, Flores was apprehended in San José, while Perez was taken into custody in Campbell. Subsequently, they were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of attempted murder and accessory to attempted murder, respectively.
