Clarksville was the site of two separate motorcycle accidents Monday evening, one of which resulted in a fatality. The first incident, occurring at the nexus of Ft. Campbell Boulevard and Cunningham Lane just after 8 p.m., necessitated the complete closure of southbound lanes while emergency services attended the scene. Clarksville Online reported that the involved motorcyclist was transported to Tennova Healthcare by Montgomery County EMS, their condition remains undisclosed.
The Clarksville Police Department issued a recommendation for drivers to find alternate routes until the thoroughfare could be returned to service, which occurred around 9:45 p.m. In a statement, authorities detailed the events, indicating "The southbound lanes of Ft. Campbell Blvd. are currently shut down and motorists are advised to find an alternate route until the roadway can be opened back up," WKRN News cited from a press release.
A second and more destructive crash unfolded just minutes later, at approximately 8:22 p.m., at the intersection of Kraft Street and North 2nd Street. The motorcyclist in this incident met a tragic end when they collided with the Midtown Inn sign and were pronounced dead at the site. The southbound lane of Kraft Street was subsequently closed as FACT Investigators arrived to examine the scene. WSMV.com provided the initial report of this fatal occurrence.
In response to the latter accident, a press release by the Clarksville Police Department read, "The southbound lanes of Ft. Campbell Blvd. are currently shut down and motorists are advised to find an alternate route until the roadway can be opened back up." This road was reopened at around 11 p.m., but not before the somber task of investigating a life cut short by the harrowing unpredictability of roadways.
