Two alleged members of the Young Mob gang, identified as Brain Lackland and Paul Nelson, have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting at Tug's Casual Grill in Harbor Town, as well as a separate fatal shooting at a McDonald's in Whitehaven, Memphis Police Department has reported. According to Action News 5, the incident at Tug’s occurred on May 13, 2023, when the suspects tried to carry out a robbery that escalated into a gunfire exchange with a victim on the restaurant's patio.

The situation intensified when one of the suspects was shot and later left at a fire station, arriving in a black Nissan Altima, the same vehicle described fleeing the scene of the crime. Tragically, the injured party, Rodenick Winston, did not survive and was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. The crucial details of their involvement were later unveiled by a collaborative effort between the Homicide Bureau and the Multi-Agency Gang Unit, as a Memphis Police Department Facebook post indicates.

In the wake of the investigation, Lackland and Nelson were indicted on August 29, facing severe charges. Lackland, also known as "Stupid Duke,” is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, and Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon; Nelson faces similar charges. In a turn of events that underscores the broader ramifications of gang violence, police have also charged two other alleged Young Mob members in relation to the McDonald's shooting in May 2022 where Jasper Strickland was fatally shot, detailed in reporting by WREG.

Mohamed Samba, 26, and Quentin Moss, 32 were the individuals apprehended and charged with First Degree Murder and additional related offenses. Samba faces a First Degree Murder charge, and Moss is charged with both First Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, they are being held, and additional charges are expected. Nelson’s bond is set at $1 million, while Lackland's booking details remain unavailable. The intersecting cases reflect an ongoing battle against gang-related activities that continue to disturb the peace and safety of Memphis communities. Further information on this case and additional charges are anticipated to develop, as these indictments represent only a segment of a larger, persistent struggle for law and order.
