
Tragedy struck in Union City early Monday morning as a residential fire claimed the life of a 66-year-old man. Union City Police Department reports indicate that officers were dispatched to a blazing home on the 33400 block of 14th Street at approximately 3:29 A.M. Despite the efforts of first responders and the evacuation of occupants, the man was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately perished from his injuries.
The aftermath of the inferno sparked a swift response from investigators, leading to the arrest of a 33-year-old man identified as Christopher Shawn Schwenk. According to the Union City Police Department, a 57-year-old female was also briefly detained before being released.
