In support of this endeavor, the St. Louis Police Foundation is extending a helping hand offering a $500 yearly stipend to each officer for learning material. Police Commissioner Robert Tracy addressed the integration of academia and policing, highlighting the diverse advantages of the educational initiative. He noted that it provides a pathway for officers to advance within the department and offers prospective recruits a career opportunity that emphasizes personal growth and intellectual development. He stated from the same announcement, "This partnership is another tool to help us draw potential recruits to SLMPD but allows current officers to continue their education which will broaden their perspective in day-to-day work," and he continued by emphasizing, "Pursuing higher education will also improve qualifications during the promotional process as we build officers to become law enforcement leaders for our next generation."
