A routine traffic stop in Hercules led to the arrest of a 41-year-old Vallejo man after officers discovered a stash of illegal drugs and cash in his vehicle. The Hercules Police Department reported that during the stop of a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, the driver, currently on probation in both Contra Costa and Solano County, was subjected to a probation search of his person and the truck.
During the search, roughly 10 pounds of what is suspected to be marijuana, over a quarter pound of what appears to be fentanyl, and five ounces of what is believed to be methamphetamine were found, according to the Hercules Police Department's Facebook page. These substances were in bulk and individually packaged, likely intended for sale. The man also carried substantial cash bound with rubber bands, a digital scale, and numerous empty new baggies, hinting at the operation's transactional nature.
The man's vehicle was towed due to a registration violation, and the cash was taken into safekeeping. Following these findings, the suspect was detained and taken to the Martinez Detention Facility, where he now faces charges related to drug possession and distribution.
