Calling all St. Louis Park residents with a green thumb – or those just looking to lend a hand – the local community has teamed up with Tree Trust for an initiative that's bound to leave an arboreal mark. The collaboration is part of an effort to beautify the boulevards of St. Louis Park, and volunteers are needed to plant trees on two separate occasions. The first of these events took place on Wednesday, September 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ainsworth Park, while another is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., this time converging at Bronx Park, as detailed by the City of St. Louis Park.
No prior experience is needed to partake in the greening-up festivities, volunteers should simply show up ready to dive into the dirt. The organizers promise to provide all the necessary tools and training. According to their Facebook post, volunteers should come "prepared to stand, kneel, bend over, walk a few blocks and use a hand saw and shovel," as stated by the City of St. Louis Park.
To make sure there's a spot for everyone, prospective tree planters are asked to register online. A simple click on the provided link in the comments of the St. Louis Park Facebook post leads to the registration page, where volunteers can select the date they're interested in. After hitting the "Volunteer/Donate" button, it's just a matter of filling in contact details to finalize participation.
