Phoenix is grappling with a streak of violence following two separate stabbing incidents over the weekend. On Saturday evening, a man named Diego Razo-Cortes, 34, was fatally stabbed near a gas station on 28th Avenue and Thunderbird Road. FOX 10 Phoenix reported that Phoenix Police Sgt. Phil Krynsky stated, "When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a stab wound. The fire department responded and transported the man to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Officers searched for witnesses and surveillance of the incident." The suspect in this case has not been apprehended.
Less than 24 hours later, on early Sunday morning, another disturbing incident occurred. A violent altercation led to two men sustaining stab wounds after a fight near the old Metrocenter mall. The police were called to a QuikTrip on 27th and Peoria avenues around 8 a.m., where they found one of the victims. AZfamily.com reported that another man was discovered with stab wounds at Wendy’s near 31st and Peoria avenues, with life-threatening injuries. Both men were taken to the hospital, with one in critical condition and the other expected to survive.
