In an unexpected turn of events for residents, White Settlement City Hall has announced a significant hiccup in their payment processing systems, a hiccup that means city services are unable to accept credit/debit cards, online payments, payments by phone, or text message utility bill payments until further notice. As reported by the City of White Settlement's Facebook page, the outage stems from their payment vendor's system going down.
Residents caught unprepared by this technological glitch have a silver lining to which they can look forward. The city has moved the due date for the current billing cycle to the following day, Tuesday, September 3rd, this gives residents an extra day to square their accounts with cash or check in person, the traditional way. A statement from city officials confirmed the billing cycle extension and indicated that in-person payments via cash or check are still acceptable, for those who can make it down to City Hall, amidst this sea of malfunctioning modernity.
The inconvenience brought upon by the outage might not have come at a worse time, as the end of the month often brings a flurry of utility bill settlements. Still, city representatives have urged calm and patience as they work rapidly to resolve the issue alongside their distressed payment vendor, who remained unnamed in all communications. City Hall has yet to provide a precise timeline for when digital payment options will be restored to full functioning, but they have pledged to update the resides as soon as information becomes available to them.
