
A shooting investigation is underway after a woman was critically injured and a man believed to be the suspect was found dead at The Landing at Pleasantdale apartments in DeKalb County. The DeKalb County Police Department reported that officers arrived at the complex around 4:30 a.m. yesterday following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, they discovered a woman with two gunshot wounds. According to FOX 5, the woman was then seen getting into a car and driving about half a mile away from the apartment complex before calling for help. She was subsequently rushed to a local hospital in a condition described as critical, with the authorities withholding her identity at this time.
The man, who was later identified as the suspected shooter, suffered what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, leading to his death. Atlanta News First indicated that the shooting may have been an incident where the suspect shot the victim and then turned the weapon on himself.
As the DeKalb County police continue their investigation into the catalyst for the violence, they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
