San José Police Department is currently in the midst of an investigation into a solo vehicle collision that tragically claimed the life of an adult female passenger last Friday. According to the San José Police Department, at approximately 11:55 PM, a 2006 white Ford pickup truck was seen performing "donuts" in a parking lot located at the 14900 block of Camden Avenue when the incident occurred.
Circumstances took a horrific turn as the passenger fell out of the vehicle and was subsequently struck by it. Upon arriving at the scene, it was determined by the responding officers that recklessness and alcohol consumption were contributing factors, as the vehicle was reportedly being recklessly driven by the adult male driver, who later transported the victim to a local hospital. Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The aftermath of this event led to the driver being taken into custody and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. The driver and the two adult male passengers stayed on the scene as authorities investigated.
This incident is classified as the 37th fatal collision and 37th traffic death in San José for the year 2024. The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office will disclose the woman's identity. The San José Police Department urges "anyone with information on this investigation" to contact Detective DelliCarpini or utilize various available channels for anonymous tips, which might lead to a cash reward as part of the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers Program.
