On a bustling city street, a 29-year-old woman became a victim of carjacking in the 7600 block of Alaska. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, this incident transpired at around 6:30 p.m. on September 20. Facing a language barrier, the victim, a non-English speaker, described the harrowing experience with the help of a translator when she reported to the South Patrol Division.
The woman was sitting in her black 2021 Jeep Compass when a man, brandishing a gun, abruptly opened the door. The assailant uttered words the woman was unable to comprehend, surely only to complicate the terror she must have been forced to feel. Compelled by the situation, she exited the vehicle, allowing the man to slide into the driver's seat and quickly drive away. Despite the shock, the woman was unharmed physically.
Police have yet to apprehend the suspect and the investigation to find the stolen Jeep continues. The authorities are now reaching out to the public for any leads.
