According to his professional background, Gray contributed over two decades to the field of firefighting, dedicating 17 years to Woodstock and time with the Morrow Fire Department as well. He had been battling esophageal cancer, as reported previously by the Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News in August 2022. During his tenure as a firefighter, Gray developed strong bonds and lasting impressions on those he worked alongside.
