The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office's Retail Theft Task Force arrested 10 individuals at a San José Target store. As reported on the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the arrests occurred last week at the Target on N. Capitol Avenue. The suspects were caught stealing many items, including beauty supplies, medication, baby formula, health products, ink cartridges, and a scooter.
Captain Brendan Omori highlighted the task force's effectiveness: "Our unit’s aggressive enforcement is becoming known in retailer circles." According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, retailers have expressed gratitude for the team's efforts to curb theft in their establishments. The haul from this sting operation at just one store amounted to more than $8,000 in recovered merchandise.
The task force, a collaboration between the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, the San Jose Police Department, and various specialized teams within the Sheriff's Office, demonstrates the importance of joint efforts in addressing retail crimes. Their work leads to immediate arrests and generates leads on major fences criminal groups that buy and resell stolen goods for profit.
